Booking for the final two sessions of Harrogate Town’s first-ever girls-only Summer Soccer Camp is open, after more than 120 girls turned out for the first two weeks of what has been a brilliant camp so far.
We launched the sessions this summer in order to give girls in school years one to eight a dedicated space to play, learn and grow their love of football and have been thrilled to see dozens of girls signing up and returning for the summer’s other camps.
“We’re very passionate about growing the girls’ game across the club and community foundation, so it’s brilliant to see so many girls joining us this summer on a Friday,” said Gareth Jones, Harrogate Town Community Foundation operations manager.
“After a successful first week, so many have rebooked due to the fun that they had and friends they made. We’re really invested in providing safe, fun and inclusive spaces to support girls’ football, and would like to thank parents for choosing us to do that. Coaches were very complimentary about the attitude and effort of the group in week one and can’t wait for the remaining three sessions.”
This was echoed by coach Tom Overton, who was delighted to be part of the team delivering the two camps so far.
“It is a real honour to be involved in our Girls’ Soccer Camp,” said Tom. “The response over the first two weeks has been fantastic, and the number of girls attending is a real testament to the hard work and commitment of both Harrogate Town AFC and the Community Foundation in developing opportunities for girls to play football.
“The players who have attended have been a fantastic group of young people. They arrive full of enthusiasm, with brilliant attitudes and a real willingness to learn, while bringing so much fun and energy to every session.”

Keep the Journey Going: Girls’ Pathway Programme
For families hoping to turn a great summer into something longer-term, Harrogate Town’s girls’ football doesn’t stop when the camp ends. Coach Tom Overton explains:
“At Harrogate Town we run our Girls’ Pathway sessions every Friday from September through to June, from 6pm to 7pm at St John Fisher School. We’d love to see many of the girls from the camp continue their football journey with us.
“Hopefully, over the coming years, we’ll see more home-grown players progress through our pathway and go on to represent our Women’s Under-23s and First Team. That would be a fantastic achievement for the players, the club and the Community Foundation.”
